A Simple Plan!

Ozpulse replied the topic: Re: A Simple Plan!

Dont worry Woodie, he will be playing with it more yet. ;)

Welcome to the forum JVDD!
Thanks for posting that up, it seems more stable now even with more speed. Considering its a lot smaller than the original plan, thats quite a feat.
Any thoughts on building the updated plan that I sent you?
CAD'ing up a proper Tunnel at the moment that you might like.
Heres a pick JVDD sent me for size comparison next to his standard Cracker.

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Yeh I've been tinkering with the plan in autocad at work and made a few minor adjustments.
As we run with 5" rails I've kept the simple build and added the rails,
here is a pdf of the plan, what do you think

Thanks for the pic, OZ.

And to JVDD: Oh that crackerbox! I think I'm in love! And the crew! Looks like the Worlds most famous couple, Ken and Barbie! :)
What a beautiful boat!

Cheers! :cheer:

yeh you are right it is ken and barbie, I get alot of comments about the crew.
the hull is made from 3mm ply and just short 6mm rails.
we have just moved the engine foreward about 3" and now she sits good in the water,
no more wild jumping down the straights.
I'm not sure of the make or name of this hull as I picked it up as an unfinished project, the hull was built but the rest had to be done.

Well I havent done much in a while so thought I had better put something up on my hull!(need to catch up) ;)
Have radio gear now, 1/4 steering servo is mounted, made some engine mounts and installed an engine B) Need to make a square drive adapter for it yet. Bead blast the can muffler and respray. Shouldnt need a pipe on this for a while as it is mainly my sons boat. The specs. sent to me by the company say 3hp @ 13,000rpm , stock as a rock.(tickled the ports a bit) Should be enough engine for the little fella for a while.

40cc Gilardoni engine! in a 45" flatbottom? :woohoo:

Hi Oz.

I just have searched Google for the 40cc Gilardoni.
Did not find yours, but it seems to be related to the italian Polini engine, which also is related to the 40 cc Blata that I have purchased.
My Blata should perform some 13.4 hp at about 18.000 rpm. For that reason I wonder: are you sure that you became the right specs for the Gilardoni? (3 hp at 13.000 rpm).
I am no expert into engines. But maybe you are in for a big and good surprise?
(The italians build some excellent engines for pocketbikes etc.).

Cheers! :cheer:

Any more updates on your boat build?

And could you all give me an idea where you are buying your supplies? Wood, resin, running hardware and such?

Any place online that goes into detail on the weedeater conversion process and what models to look at?

I want to get into as boats but need to keep expense down as well.

Thanks!

Hey Warren, Still waiting on the weather to co-operate at the moment.
Took it out for its first run but flipped it going too hard into the turn.
Im a bit of a scrounger when it comes to materials, your local industrial area is a great source of free materials. Just ask nicely and most of the time people are overly helpfull. ;)

Hi Oz.

Thanks for the videos. Boat is looking really good, and it sure is fast on a straight run!
But what's the trouble with the (slow) cornering? Are you scared it would flip over?

Cheers! :cheer:
