Killer Kat (Build Pics Updated)

isuzudude replied the topic: Re: Killer Kat

Sounds like your build is going good too!!! B) I had them marked to cut out.. But I put it on the scale like it sits now, weigh in at 2 1/4 pound. So I figured I'd just leave them like that!!! B)

Isuzu.

Right on. Your choice. The spants on my boats are cut out to only 6 x 20 mm, and I actually consider to get some weight off by drilling holes in them before mounting sides and deck. This should save a little but significant weight on my upcoming legendary Kat Killer.
The top part (lid) above the engine and some inner parts will handcarved in very light balsa wood.
But don't worry. It's ok to get scared when facing supreme power and craftmanship. :woohoo:

Cheers and good luck! :cheer:

Woodie, You're 'bout as crazy as they come!!! And fine craftmenship is my middle name, so no fret there!! I looked at the twin cat on the home page, and it says that one weighs over 45 pounds. Not sure if that's before he removed the 2 middle engines though.. If I can come in at 30 - 40 pounds, I'll be happy with that. But from what I'm seeing at this stage of the build is... I'm probably going to come in under 30!!! :side:

Well. I got through haloween without at scratch, so what harm could a little pussycat from the deserts of Texas be able to do to a wild bearded Viking with the middlename Eric (Erik)? :woohoo:
About weight: I have calculated that my mono will weigh no more than 14 kilos (appr. 30 pounds) in dry weight and ready to go. A power to weight ratio of 1:1. How about that?
Enjoy your build. I enjoy mine, and our little "disputes" here too.
And now I'm off for some 1/10 mm tinkering in the workshop. C U!

Cheers! :cheer:

I wouldn't call them "disputes" That's such a harsh word.. I prefer "joustings" Because it is all in fun!! :woohoo: But I like the way we can pick on each other without it getting out hand... I think it was Moof that said.."On another site, this would've already turned into a braul" It just goes to show ya that Texans and Vikings aren't barbaric, we just like to play!!! :silly: Although I have been called things close to that before!!!!

Isuzu.

Sorry about the "dispute" word. Remember I'm danish, and the more subtle details of english can slip for me, when I write in english. :)

And now off to the workshop. Things must be done!

Cheers! :cheer:

Hey Is,
Looking good so far, congrats. B) One question though are you going to have one of the engines counter rotating? Also (ok two questions) Did you do the engine mounts yourself? If you did, they look good. B)

Hey Moofy, for now they won't be counter-rotating, just have to see how it works out. The engine mounts came on the motor as a package deal from DDMRacing.com They're isolated mounts, just do it in a different fashion, I have one bolted in my skiff to play around with while I break it in, and so far has worked out great!!! B) Super sweet engines, Dave does a heck of a job!!
