Alright Fellas.... Just came in from the garage, First run up of both engines completed on test stand!!!! Test came off without a hitch (that means without a problem Woodie) so I plan on taking it to the pond for Her first water test after work tomorrow :woohoo: :woohoo: !!!!! Both engines purred like a kitten (no pun intended) and throttle response was instant!!!! Couldn't be happier!!! I've already talked with my neighbor, who was there during testing, and he said he would be more than happy to tag along and film for me!!!!!!! All I can say Woodie is "Put the women and children to bed and hang on to your A@#!!! This is gonna be one HELLOVA ride!!!!!!!" Will add some pics and hopefully some good Vids in the next day or so!!!!

Hi Isuzu!

Sounds really good ole boy! Can't wait to see the pics and a vid!
One remark though. I can see that both engines/props rotate the same way. Maybe you will need a "correcting" fin? It could be placed between the two props?
Time and a test run will show.

Good luck! :cheer:

Woodie.

That thought has crossed my mind... so I'll be expecting it to happen. Hopefully knowing in advance will stop anything from happening!!!!!

Ok... Boat took off from shore like a Scaldedassape!!! Within 50 foot GPS registered 43.4 MPH. Then the trouble started. Lost a screw on the "best throttle linkage in the world"!!! Lucky for me, I left the return springs on the carbs and it shut the port side engine down when the secrew came out. Prop walk wasn't an issue because the boat went straight and true for that 50 feet. They did cavitate slightly on take off though, but nothing major. I broke the engines in on a stand swinging an airplane prop, but in the boat, engines were running rich and never came up on the pipes. Further investigation revealed an air leak in the fuel line on the engine that died!!! But after the short run and bobbing the water for about 5 minutes, hull interior was dry as a bone. Because of the wind, pond had 4 to 6 inch chop. No effect on it at all, that was a good thing. After the first engine died, second prop cavitated so bad, boat wouldn't even get up to walking speed. So for the next run, I'm going to put 2 X470's on it instead. Video isn't worthy of posting, but will try it again Thursday when I go back out!!!

Hey Isuzu.

Thanks for the report.
Remember that when you build a One-Off, something is bound to be corrected! I expect the same for my part, so just get to it!
Just give us a vid when you are ready.

Cheers! :cheer:

Woodie.

PS: Try to pass the 70 mph limit, if you want to compete with my hammer. :woohoo:

Hey Woodie, I was actually very pleased with the boat's attitude in the water!!! From the way it took off, I do believe I hit the CG perfect. I expected little things to show their ugly heads!! But all in all, I feel this is going to be ONE FAST MUTHER!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing that really dissappointed me was the throttle linkage. I had a feeling these were going to be the wrong props, but after I get the bugs worked out, I will try them on it again. It's like ya said, it's a one-off, Trial and error!!! That's what really makes me love scratchbuilding!!! For that moment that it DOES work!!!! I ... by NO means... am not giving up!!!! The Killer will be CONVICTED OF KILLIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words....
Have a good one!!!!
Doug.
