Brent, just high temp VHT matt black paint on mine. No issues with heat from the pipe, closest point to hull is around 10mm.

Question for any that may no the answer. Wally, mentioned using a thin non-p/u type rudder. Would this thin rudder be used only for SAW or could one use it in race (oval) conditions and still maintain contorl/stability in cornering?

I can't see why it wouldn't be usable in heat racing, as long as it is strong enough to hold up to the cornering loads. Less drag in any situation means faster;)

Thank you. Thought as much, but never had any experience with one. I'm running an AM Conquest w/ AM hrdwr. and stock 260. Runs consistant 48 mph. Did you fill the \"shoe box\" seam for looks or performance?

Both, mainly for strengh, there is more carbon fibre in my boat now than anything due to repairing damage for all the high speed stuffs. Kept poping the side seams, so I cut them out. As it works out there is a lot less lift.

Just got the Club Champs out of the way. 4 x wins out of 5 starts on the first day, broke my flexi cable on the start of the 5th race. Day two, first race got taken out after the start on turn 3 split hull, bent rudder, strut and stuffed my fav prop:angry: . Missed the next 3 races, taped her up, robbed a few spares and won the last. Came second over all by 1 or 2 points. Bit dissapointing but thats racing I guess.

Anyways, I have a nice new liner in my QDHT and it's going strong, going to fix all the damage and give it a good birthday. National Champs in October, hoping to have it smoking for then.
