My Avenger

QDRevenger created the topic: My Avenger

Hey guys,

Just posting some pics of my boats, this one is my current heats boat, best speed on the GPS 71.2mph, consistantly runs 67-68mph in heats. Motor is a QDHT, QD hotpipe modded with a muffler, we need to run under 87db, Speedmaster hardware. Any questions please ask.

The pipe is a QD Hotpipe that I made from a kit. Using the "Deep V" kit, just a few angles are different. No special mounts needed, just mounted to the pipe exit with some silicone tubing. I like the idea of the pipe inside more to have the CG lower in the hull and less drag.

Prop in the pictures is an ABC 2916/2, good speed prop but have had better results with various modded 2716 20deg rake.

I saw the trim tabs we try them too and we found very good but in turning sometimes the boat trying to turn over. Our trim tabs is different from yours mine is straight all the way and yours is tapered i think it will effect in turnning . Your avenger is very clean built a nice too. :)

Thanks for the comments Mark. I really like the trim tabs, helps keep the boat on the water. Never had any handeling problems, doesn't roll over but takes off without them. I can hit the corners at full throttle no problems. CG is 34% + and it still takes off sometimes. The tabs are tapered in thickness too so there is not much side area to upset the handeling.

I wonder how "non-trip" tabs, like the ones used on Crackerboxes would work on cats? I just might have to give them a try. I have never used tabs on a cat, but I just might try some to see the difference.

Never used them either. Though i dont think id drill anymore holes in my insane to try them out. I did have a small turnfin on the right sponson on my gen1 insane that helped it in the corners though.

Marc, I have never had a problem with it tripping.

Will, I also run a skegged strut which makes a real difference in the corners, my Avenger handles like a slot car. The skegged strut might scrub a bit of top speed off but I see Wally always seems to have a skegged strut on all pof his fast boats.

First, great looking boat, clean build. I'm about to set up an Avenger myself and had a Couple ?'s for you. Those trim tabs are sweet where can I get a set? I saw your hull is seamless, how did you accomplish this? and is the reason for your spark plug showing because of the engine being so foward for CG purposes that the scoop doesn't cover it?
thanks
