50" Jersey Skiff first run"Tuning run video added"

Finally got the Skiff finished... First run out was extremely squirrelly  Angle was wrong on the prop... about 1 degree positive.. wrong answer.. went 1 degree neg and it worked much better :woohoo: I don't think I have enough rudder in the water though. Turns were scarey to say the least, took way too much input to get it to turn. But straight out it would absolutely FLY :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Nothing but prop and rudder in the water!!!!!!!! Loved It!!!! I took a pic of the back.. if anyone has any opinions on height, I would appreciate it.

Now youve just upset me! ;)
Going to pre fabbed hulls, I was quite enjoying your woody builds! B)
Your turning may be getting effected by those trim plates?
From what I have seen in videos the skiffs roll right over on thier sides when turning!
I have never run trim plates on any of my boats, if balance and strut angle is right they shouldnt be needed.
Most experienced boaters will tell you that trim tabs are just an add on to fix bad setups of the hull.
Even my little 41inch mono with a 26cc in it spent more time out of the water than in it during runs but still no trim tabs.
Of course you dont have to take my word for it, as Im only a home builder.
Just trying to help. ;)
Still is a nice build though! B)

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Don't worry Chad, it's nothing permanent, just wanted to try it B) I have the tabs set a little neutral right now so I don't think they're doing anything anyway. It heals fine, I just have to slow down quiet a bit before the rudder takes effect  That's what makes me think it not set deep enough. But don't worry about the prefabbed hull stuff... I'm about to start a work of art I know you'll appreciate :woohoo: CAN YOU SAY 85CC TWIN CYLINDER? :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

THAT'S A SCAREY THOUGHT  I can see right now... there wouldn't be enough hours in a day :side: It's hard enough for the wife to get me out of the garage as it is!!!! Do you or anyone else have some good cat plans? It doesn't matter what size, I can make whatever size I need on the plotter at work B)

Go to Boat plans!
There are a couple of decent size cat plans for free download there!
Hope this helps! ;)
PM sent with a new hull idea for you to think about! :woohoo:

Hi Izusudude.

My God you are productive!
Whats the trouble with your wifey since she has no means of getting you out of that garage? ;)

Anyway, get back to the wood soon again.
And stay away from the cats. They are for sissies. :P You should know that real men build and drive huge deep vee (wooden) offshore boats with massive engines!

Cheers! :cheer:

Woodie.

So you're saying a cat is a mono with training wheels? But Woodie the cat I'm talking building will have an 85cc twin cylinder in it.. Does this justify taking the training wheels off? :S I also have a 50cc quadraccer I'm thinking about sacrificing... Would that work? I know if Chad reads this he's gonna discharge all over himself!!! But we won't go there!!!
