Man that's a big pulley. I am told that's the way to go, so you must be on the right path. Kudos to you.

Its not that big, it still fits under the pull starter! ;)
But then the pullstarter is 3 times the size of a zen!
This is only a last resort, I have someone looking at making me a stronger billet starter plate!

Looks like that will work B) Is that a slot cut in it so you can use a pull rope on it? How much does it weigh? It looks like that will be enough mass to do what ya need.

Yeah its slotted for a rope, my little 12v elec. starter can only just turn it over without fuel or spark!
Not sure on weight?
Well I am impatient and got bored so I made a starter plate today, now I will have one for the spare motor when my billet one gets done. This one is plenty beefy, I think the rope would snap well before this will! Forgive the dirty spare engine but it saves me having to pull the one out of my boat! B)

Got talked into running the boat at a local pond so a mate could check it out!
The pond is a bit small for this big cat aswell as being to calm to let it really break loose but we got some footage anyway! ;)
Something sounded like it was binding so I pulled the starter when I got home, only to have a heap of plastic bits etc. fall out in the hull! :woohoo:
Oh well there goes another starter assy.

Don't give up! Sounded like it wanted to break free a few times. Some good chop and a bit more space and she might wake up! Also you can try hardware adjustments to loosen up the boat some if the water you run in is always this calm. If you have access to different props that would also give you some stuff to test. Nice project!

Thanks llema! :)
I usually run in the open down the beach or in the river, its seems to go a lot better in the broken salt water! ;)
mind you I havent done anything to the underside yet, its still pretty rough with overspray!
I did change the strut angle to try to loosen it up on the calm water but broke the starter assy. before I could launch it again!
I will keep going thats for sure! B)
