48inch 'wildthing'Mono

Ozpulse created the topic: 48inch 'wildthing'Mono

Ok started to do a bit on my first project. Got all the parts cut out and cleaned up for assembly, grabbed the old door workbench and got all the frame glued out. Just have to wait till morning for the glue to fully set and I can start a sanding and get the floor on. Here is a pic. thus far. Nothing exciting.

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Hope you put some cling wrap down before starting as epoxy tends to gravitate down and glue your project to the table. Keep those pictures coming.

Well got a lot more done over christmas, the hull is finished and glassed. At first I thought that the 21.2cc McCulloch engine was going to be too big and heavy for it but after doing a float test in the bath tub it all seems ok as the hull wont even sit down to the side boards in the water. Here are some more pics so far, This boat is only my first so it isnt a work of art it is functional.

The stainless tube should work ok as long as it's got the ID to match the flex closely enough without being too tight or too loose. Typically we use brass K&S tubing ...the 5/16" one is perfect for stuffing tubes. It has an I.D. of 9/32". I have used steel brake line in the past on hydros and it worked ok. I do prefer the brass though.

Good work on your build! :)

Thanks marc! As this is my first build it would be good if someone could put me on the right path as far as props and running gear goes. I was thinking of making most of it myself, turn fins etc. so what prop size should I be shopping for? 21.2cc McColluch motor with tuned pipe in a 48inch mono hull? maybe some engine mods later?? All help is greatly appreciated!B)
