Inline FF-Rigger

Scott replied the topic: Re: Inline FF-Rigger

The 3018/2 cupped up runs right at 80 MPH on the twin rigger and allows hull to be very smooth in the corners with a very stable ride.
Being my rigger is a 3 point design and prop tends to be deeper getting more bite on the water than a 4 point type hull likely reason it likes the slightly smaller prop.

Power wise it pulls a 3316/2 well enough, just handling is not as good

Short update:
I exchanged the turnfin. Now I'm using a BlazerMarine similar Turnfinn which is slidly bigger than the original one for Back- and Whiplash. So the Performance in the curves is much better now.
Best prop is still the cupped 3317-2 from DASBOATA. Now I'm using 26cc XXtreme cylinder kits from Jens in Germany.
I added some taps on the bottom of both front sponsons but i glued them 5cm before rear end of the sponsons. So the sponson looks similar to the Warpath and JAE Rigger sponsons now. Benifit of the 5cm is to bring the COG more forward. The angle of the sponsons and clearance of the Main hull to the water increased because of the taps which is much better for the start now and to get her running. Its easier now to get her out of the weather directly after the Start.
Further i glued the left rear sponson for better performance in the curves. (i didnt attach the right rear sponson yet). And I'm using a longer rudder with decreased distance to the back of the main hull.
I had to add 200g at the rear end to prevent jumping caused by the lift and probably because of the COG which is slidly to much in front of the boat. But since its my first Rigger i learned a Lot while improving the performance step by step.

Glad to read you are still working with your twin.

Are you starting to develop some idea as to what it's top speed is?
Rumor has it some of these twin riggers are real screamers but we all
know how rumors go - could just be a bunch of B.S.

If any boat is going to raise the bar in the SAW races, a twin rigger
should have a better chance than most. Until the times get turned in
on a certified SAW course it's all just talk, talk, talk.

Thanks again for the update on your FF. I hope she exceeds your wildest
expectations.

Have fun and stay safe.

Nice boat, BUT, BH Hanson sells a header that has a one inch down bend, and another one that has a 1 inch up bend that would make your pipe arrangement look a whole bunch better.

#10 has a one inch up bend and #11 has a one inch down bend. Then both pipes would go straight back.

Hello guys,
thanks for your comments!
Actually I also dont like the current pipe arrangement. Didnt know about the bended headers.
I'll order the down bended one to exchange the front header which is also available in Germany for half price ;)
Since my time for the powerboats is quite limited I dont have some much time for testing but even more time to think about how to improve the setup step by step.
Speed should be up to 75mph but didnt use GPS yet since I'm stuggling with the flex connection to the prop shaft. (Seems there was a lot of torque while she pushed her ass out of the water again and again. But this problem is solved already)
There are still a lot of ideas for improvements but therefore a stable boat is obligatory.

I'll keep you up to date!

Attached the new header. Looks more straight now! Should be useful for the launch of the heat. Means the boat should easier come out of the water because of less performance disturbing of the pipe mounts.
