Plugged carb screen

First I want to thank Scott
He did a great job on a Zen for me, the boat is fast.
But I could only get two laps and it'd quit.
I just installed a new sullivan tank, with the black rubber stopper, and running coleman fuel.
The stopper disintergrated and plugged the carb screen.
Any one else have trouble like this, I thought the black stoppers were for gas.

Plugged primary screens will indeed kill an engine ... bummer on that !
Look forward to seeing hearing more positive  posts once you get dialed in and able to start the finer tuning work :woohoo:

If you need assistance, you only need ask.

Odd on the stopper if current Sullivan inventory , have had brown/black ones and remember one type doing as you state ... sadly don't remember which it was ?

I tested a black and a white plug immeresed in the fuel I took out of that tank, 1 1/2 days
there seems to be no effect, so the black plug must be for gas but what are these white plugs for?
The coleman fuel doesn't effect them.

I had same issue - I think white is nitro fuel

I switched to Buck bags (Thanks Scott for idea) and have never had any issues since

I did note that reg gas seemed ok with black but coleman ate them

I now run 96 octane Marine gas (no ethonol) and have never had a issue since - beside coleman is 20.00 a gallon here

White ones MOST DEFINITELY the Alki/Nitro fuel stoppers

Ive got a tank around in the shed somewhere, the original 'black' stopper did fall to bits with pump fuel. I think it has the tan stopper in it now, would have to have a dig for it.

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Hotrod
I would have replied earlier, was working on the computer hook up.
Thanks for the offer, i'm going to go with the black and later test the white.
I had a black one in a tank, running gasoline for two years with no trouble.
I bought an inline fuel filter, it's clear plastic, and can monitor the progress.
I'll let you guys know what I find out.
Am having trouble testing the boat, the Indians are fishing the river, there are nets all over. :S

Some of the fuel bags have a white side-pin fiber material that will dissolve in gas. The next bag i order had a bolt threaded in place of the fiber material But the bag gave off a creamy white snow, inside the bag. Buck bags are used now.
