RCMK 254 EVO AND ZENOAH 260

seanx450 created the topic: RCMK 254 EVO AND ZENOAH 260

What are the pro's and con's of each engine and which one provides the best performance stock and modified. I want to run these motors in a cat or sport hydro. Thanks for the responses if any.

Not to take anything away from the Zenoah 260, but IMO the RCMK is superior in a lot of ways. Power (Torque,RPM), reliability, Fit 'n Finish (Looks great), and ease of tuning. Only downside that I have found is the Pull Starter and the fact that Zens are widely distributed, where as RCMK has one source.

I just thank God, that the one source where you can get the RCMK is a good one and I hope it never changes.

First off, WELCOME to MGB ....

Next, rather than simply posting another dissertation on what your asking, suggest you do some reading on the subject taking into account age of post and upgrades done each revision on the RCMK's.

If MGB has reviewed it, it resides here: www.modelgasboats.com/Magazine...nd_Accessories/

Hi,
Everyone has their personal preferences, both the above responses are correct.
My answer is read, read, read. Marc has reviews on both motors, as has Scott. Lorring has just posted one for outlaw engines. These three guys really know what they are talking about so listen very closely to what they say and your decision will be much easier.
Hope this helps.

I will add this which is repeatedly said many times ....

* The Zenoah 231/260 4 port engines were the platform used by RCMK. By doing so both engines have a very high rate of parts interchange.
IMO, what RCMK has done is take off and improve what Zenoah had designed then improved upon it making a tougher and more marine specific application engine.

Both are FANTASTIC motors and really you can't go wrong with either.

I don't have one (Zen 20) but I have seen it at Aeromarine. Remy had one before they were on the market in Marine and he was putting it in the Team Believer. Some of you know that that cat has always been plagued with blow overs because of the short hull. This motor seems to be a good match for the boat size and I am considering the combo for my next build.

After doing much reading and checking out forums across the internet I have decided that I'm going with the RCMK engines. I checked their website and it turns out that they have some new engines out. They have a new rear ex. engine and a rear ex. RCMK-Zenoah hybrid that looks pretty nice. claim 19000 rpm with stock Zenoah cylinder.
