Propellers

Zen26 created the topic: Propellers

As a new guy the whole propeller issue is a bit confusing:meidiot: . I have a stock 26cc zenoah that revs to 10,000rpm. Currently there is a 70mm diameter octura X478 prop on the boat. Im replacing the whole drive system on the boat (flex shaft, stuffing tube and strut) so I want to get a new propeller as well. Can anyone tell me what might be a suitable prop for my setup?
Thanks.......Brandon:beach:

If you are looking to buy a race ready prop, contact Brent at Propworks West and tell him what you got. Here is a link to his profile, you can send him a private message from there. www.modelgasboats.com/index.ph...ofile&user=4704

I assume Zen26 is running a mono, if so, the X470/2 should be a good starting prop for him.

I have a mono hull (52 inches x 14.4 inches x 8.8 inches), submerged prop, all together it'll wiegh about 9 kg. As I said the engine revs to around 10,000rpm. Some pics of the boat:

BIG boat and near 20#'s ..... Running submerged is going to require a smaller prop.

IMO something along the lines of a Propshop / Voodoo 6516/2 or 3
Octura X465 0r 467 with cut down tongues. ABC 2514 or 2516

All those small props should be easy to spin for the stock 260, maybe the X470 is a bit too big?? I just read a engine builder site that says a stock 260 could turn 14K RPM with a good pipe.

A X470 in a SURFACE drive configuration will work fine with a mod engine, run by a stocker & wet buried under the keel not so much.
A stock 260 with the right pipe / setting actually will turn to the 15K range or a tad more tho down on HP from a modified engine.
