Transmitters

johnnybegood1 replied the topic: Re:Transmitters

I can handle that work but will wait for warrenty to expire if I go with the 4pls. Originally was looking at Flysky it4 but moved towards the Futaba 4pls then read reveiws that it was just a cheap way around the 4pk. So confusing. I hope I don't make a mistake with the 4pls for a beginners radio.

I would NOT "hack" a radio when I can use a $8.00 "switch" to do same thing and never take radio apart, you see the "mods" done on a crawler site - doubt you will ever see on a boat site (till now)

Hacking a radio on a crawler is no big deal if something screws up - usually will not run far or very fast
Hacking a radio on a Boat - IS A BIG DEAL - if something screws up - it may not only hit something or someone - speeds may be significantly faster - ranges longer - may not see boat again if it gets away.

I know you like doing electrical things Gord but I would never do that to any of my boat radios - maybe a crawler - but for boats and planes I would not "hack" anything or any electrical parts.

Just my 2 cents - idea with boats is to make them simple and reliable - not sure you do that when you start taking radios apart to "fix something that doesn't need fixing"

Randy

I use 3PM - 3PX - 4PLS and wouldn't take them apart

OK time to put this topic to rest I am sure everyone is tired of my radio choice delema. I see Randy has a 4pls and is really heavy hooked into this boating and does great building so my gut tells me I will have good luck with a 4pls and is backed with a good name so I get paid for a stinking sewer job I just completed today and I am ordering mine. I would probably been OK with the IT4 but knowing me I will allways wonder about the Futaba. I had a plane years ago and a Futaba that I think was somewhere around 27mghz and it was a great radio then untill two real helicopters flew over me and screwed up my signal and crashed my plane. I still have the radio last time I turned it on it sat there twitching the servos, probably from cb's there real close to that freq. Anyhow thanks all and I will keep in touch as I go about setting up my boat. Nice jet boat Randy you do nice work. John

I was addressing Randy..

Don't even think about "hacking" your radio, its not needed and the "hacks" are geared around crawlers~not anything you need or could use on a boat anyway.I've never seen a boat that needs 4 wheel steering mixing....

Some of the "hacks" are for 4 wheel steering but some are for turning on other things, ie lights
