Guy's, how much gap do I need between the drive dog and the stinger and should I use thrust washers as well?

3/8" on most one piece cable/propshafts - thrust washers are used with a prop shaft - separate cable

Most of my parts arrived today. The rest should be here after the weekend, so hopefully I can start putting this thing together.
So look out, I'm sure there's going to be plenty more questions asked of you guy's, hope you can keep helping me out!

When I offset the stinger, do I need to offset the rudder as well?

No you do not. The drive offset is to help the boat track straight.

I may not have a choice. The hardware wo t clear each other, might have to do some dremelling.
Another question, when using tefloj lined stuffing tube do you still grease/ oil the flex? I have aa t-bar with a oil reserve. Do I drill a hole thru the brass tube abd telfon? Doesn't the teflon rotate in the tube making lining up the holes almost impossile?
I'm a bit confused here.
Also, by not offsetting the rudder does that create any clearance issues with the prop and the rudder?

Did you look at "Set Up SHeet" on page 2 of this (2nd post down) - It CLEARLY shows where everything should be - I've seen that same boat in person - which is why I posted that info

Rudder should be offset from centerline by 2 1/2" as shown in set up sheet posted for Lazer - I don't offset my drives for play boats (some do I don't)

Yes will always need grease or oil - those lined with Teflon usually best to grease

Once again I don't use lined stuffing tubes - I run 5/16" brass tube with 11/32 over top - then you can use a oiler if wanted

The Teflon lining if used should extend past tube on collet end - then be split and wrapped around outside of tube with a zip tie or the sleeve will move

Thanks Randy, I meant offsetting the rudder further to the 2 1/2" in the set up sheet.

I've seen some guys go less to 2" but not more than 2 1/2 ? 2 1/2 gives room for a pretty big prop .......

Is rudder not long enough away to clear tabs or what exactly going to hit ?
