Marc, do you run stuffing tube all the way through strut, or just up to it (with a separate vented sleve inside strut)?
Thanks, Gerry
P.S. 5/16" or 9/32" dia. brass stuffing tube?

Tube all the way to back of strut. A brass sleeve bearing then goes in from the back of strut to properly support the 1/4" shaft. Typical Speedmaster style setup. :)

The G-3 runs good the G-4 runs even better IMO.

But the G4 just looks like a rigger with wings. It doesn't even resemble a hydro.

I agree Steve but that seems to be the way things are heading. The Backlash does a better job of disguising this with its large sponsons but turn it over and it is clear that its not a traditional hydro. I've been running a G-4 for the last two seasons and it runs very light yet predictable and loves rough water. Both boats are good but would go G-4 if getting a new Insane IMO.

I am new to this sport and have a G4 on order as I think it is a great hull. I do agree with the comments about it not looking like a hydro though, and am going to make my own cowl. I like the concept of riggers, and will inevitably get one as they are the 'F1's' of gas boats. Unfortunately, I assume because of their heritage as models and mostly agricultural construction methods, most of them look like soap box racers, not F1's.

Yes, riggers are the soap box racers of model boating, and unfortunately the guys who offer them think they are selling a Mercedes Benz.

Why is a G4 $460.00, and a Insane rigger $999.00? If the price of a rigger were less, there would probably be more them racing.

Don't get me wrong, I know Jeff. I used to make some of his hardware and Insane builds a mighty fine boat, but I think the rigger is over priced.
