Guys,
I want to give a huge congratulations to my team mates Mark Grim (Grim Reaper Riggers), Brent Daily (Propworks West) for a great job this weekend especially on such a short notice. The Legg Lake SAW record Trials were only days away and in a matter of a few days we got enough parts together to get my old Grim Reaper SAW boat together and brake our own one way record and make the fastest passes ever with a Zenoah engine of any size in history with a CC Racing Monster 29.5 modified Zenoah. Mark made a fast pass of 109.4 mph and went over 108mph a few times. We had some really bad luck and tore the boat up twice trying to back the two way record up, but it just was not meant to be this weekend. According to Mark Grim 110+mph will happen next time out with the boat. We only used one prop from Brent at Propworks West and were spinning it very easy. With all the little gremlins that plagued us we never got a chance to put the bigger props from Propworks West on the boat, but we will get it done next time. This just proves that the Fastest props in the world come from Propworks West.
I called Mark Grim last Monday and asked what kind of shape my old SAW boat was in and Mark Said it is covered with dust and does not have a engine, but other then that it is ready to go. I then called Brent daily and asked if we could borrow the CC Racing Monster 29.5 I just built for his heat race rigger and could he please put some props in the box with the engine that will work for the SAW boat with the big engine. Within the next two days the engine and 3 new Propworks West Props were headed to Mark Grims. Kim Grim made me a new cowl for the boat so we could get the job done. Well Mark had a few gremlins with the boat on Friday and took it home to fix them then showed up on Saturday and immediately went 106.3mph then a 108.3mph going the same direction and the boat died before he could make the back up pass. When he got another turn later in the day the first pass was 107.9mph and when he crossed through the lights the boat hit a stick and tore the sponson off the boat. Well Mark, Darrin Jordan and Kim stayed up till 1.30am repairing my boat (Thanks Guys). They then made some passes on Sunday of 109.4 and 108.83 mph before the boat took another spill and broke the sponson off again ending our weekend.
I could not be more proud of this team and what we accomplished in a rush. We will be more prepared next time and we will join Tony Grinter from Australia with his CC Racing Monster 29.5 powered Grim Reaper in going over 110mph with a gas powered boat. I have to Thank to Mark, Kim, Brent and Darin for working there butts off this weekend. We will get it next time and 109.4 is nothing to be ashamed of. Big thank you to Brent Daily for letting us use his new CC Racing Monster 29.5 engine for the weekend.
Thanks
Carlo
