Stepped Monos

Hugh created the topic: Stepped Monos

I havent seen the latest rules but has there been any amendment to allow the use of stepped monos in mono events or are we still stuck on running them with hydros  ?

If no how do you go about proposing a change. Do I start on a district level or.....?

As far as the rules go stepped monos are not legal and are suppose to be run with hydros. Any rule changes can be voted on at the district level if there is enough interest to incorporate the change, however I do not see any gain in running a stepped mono except for the looks, JMO..

"Wetted areas of conventional (left) and stepped monohulls. A stepped mono has less wetted area, and should - in theory - be faster than a conventional monohull. A stepped monohull can be setup to prop-ride, reducing wetted area to the absolute minimum."
