Thinking about building....

cordles33 created the topic: Thinking about building....

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of joining the model boating hobby. As of now I am in the model railroading and rc truck hobbies. Anyway... I'm thinking on building the 48'' deep vee from the resources page. I have seen lots of posts about this and I am probably going to ask a few questions that have be answered already because I don't understand the answer.

First: How do I print these files? I'm not expecting them to fit one one sheet but I can't get them to print on multi-sheets. How did the guys that built the boat do it?

Second: The drive. I'm going to be using a weed eater. I'm not too sure on how to mount it and how to connect the drive. From the information I have collected I can use the weed eaters' flex shaft then connect that to a ferrule and to a drive shaft. Now do i just leave the flex shaft exposed?

Third: Will any weed eater do? I'm looking for cheap because I just wanna join the hobby for fun.

Fourth: How do I choose a propeller?

Fith: what do I use for glue? And for the resin/fiber glass does it matter weather I use east or west systems?

That's all I can think of for now. If you are able to answer any of these questions I would greatly appreciated it. B)

Ok well I don't need help with the printing atm I found a nice little program to do it for me. Here's a link: Viewing: - Scale & Print PDF files
It's for airplans but it works fine with boat plans too.

Hi Cordless.

Wellcome onboard at MGB. :)

Building a MGB is no rocket science, as you are beginning to realise.
Believe it or not I am new into this too. I have my own ideas about what is best, but along the way I gather good advices and help from other boaters in this fine forum.
A real MGB is NOT something you assemble during a few weeks. There is no bottom line - and it WILL for sure take time and considerations to get the right result.
Just take advices you can get here and then do what you think is best.

BTW thanks for the link to the printing page. Seems useful.

Cheers! :cheer:
