weedy motor help

kartrobison created the topic: weedy motor help

I have this motor in one of my boats, its a echo motor from a Mantis tiller

the motor runs smooth and seems like with the quality of the motor is should be a faster than it is.
just wondering if it was factory toned down for emission reasons and if any one had some tips for it.

thanks

I have a Tiller with a Hommie motor and it seems to be tuned to work the best on the tiller not needing the rpm of a trimmer so I don't think it would work in a boat very well.

All weedy engines are somewhat detuned for what we want to use them for, you will be surprised at the performance difference between a stock weedy motor and a properly modified one.
Theres always power there waiting to be released. ;)

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!

Have never played with the Echo motor myself, Im sure some of the older racers would have run them at some time. ;)
Hopefully someone will chime in.
First thing would be to get it breathing better (bigger carby/free flowing muffler or tuned pipe)
Next step will be changing the port timing.
