Can I change the battery type?

bshey created the topic: Can I change the battery type?

I just bought an old Futaba transmitter (7 CH: 7FG) that I am using for an rc gas boat I am building.. The transmitter battery is dead. It is a 500mAh NiCd 9.6volt battery. I was wondering if I could use an air soft battery. It is a NiMH battery at 9.6volts and it is 1600mAh battery. Can it be done? Thanks for the help.

If it's the same voltage you're good to go.

And have the correct charger for it ....
Generally dedicated Ni-Cad chargers won't peak charge detect Nmhi cells correctly and end up over charging them damaging cells.

What frequency is it? If it's not 75mhz or 27mhz it's against FCC rules to use it for surface models. I'm assuming it's not 2.4ghz since you say it's old. Doug
