80" Beachcomber Cruiser "Scratch"

Ok Fellas... This is my Cruiser I've been working on for about 5 weeks now. I run into a few snags along the way since I didn't have any plans. I just drew it and modified it as I went. So y'all be kind in the cretique department!! HAHA. Anyway, hope y'all like it.

And then it was time for the all crucial float test!!!!!

That went rather well... time to move on!!!!

And that stair well leads down into my split level Cuddy Cabin..better known as a stabbin' cabin!!!!!!

OK>>> Time for some paint...

Time to tape off for some Lightning bolts!!!!! B)

DRUM ROLE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And now for action shots!!!!! :woohoo:

Dude!,
Totally kool! I'm all about scratch building, though I've never attempted a whole boat, I seem to over engineer stuff, I'm my worst enemy! LOL!

Anyhow, what did you use for power, hardware, PROP? and all that kind a stuff? The pictures look as if it really moves out?

Nice Job! G.

Thanks for the comp. I'm running a hopped up 36cc scooter motor. I started off with old octura strut and rudder, but the rudder was way too small. Therefore I scratched me out a twin rudder set up out of brass plate and tubing ;) But the first time i ran wide open throttle and threw a hard turn in... I snapped them off  So now I'm upgrading that to 3/8 ss tubing and ss plate!!! If that don't hold up.. I'm going down to Mike Marine Works and buying a Hobie Cat rubber for it!!!! :woohoo: Could ya imagine? I've also got another gadget I'm working on...REVERSE :woohoo: !! This pic is just my proto. The finished product will be out 1/2" plexiglass laminated and bolted together so I can make it water tight and put a light weight oil in it. I'm also designing a gear box to allow for twin screws!!!!!! GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!!!!
When the 3 gears on the bottom are in line like they are in the pic... that's forward. Flip a servo (STRONG SERVO) :S the smaller box in the box brings the top gear down...WALA reverse!! And the prop is the biggest I could find on the web!!! I want to go to twin screws so I can put 2 270's on it. Should have plenty of power. The motor slings that monster prop like it not even there!!! I had it semi surface drive to start with...Way too much cav!!! After dropping down about 3/4" it jumps out the water when I shower down on it B) My only concern about the twin screw idea... I don't know if the single shaft to the gear box can handle... Because I plan on stepping it up about 25 - 30% on the ratio.. Any suggestions?

OK Fellas... This is just for laughs :silly: This is before I lowered the prop and put twin rudders. I showed my buddy at work and said I had to put it on here :S So ENJOY!!!

Hi Ozzie!

This seems to be more test than run

Before trimming, you should try loosing the little blonde in the wakeboard, and maybe the anchor too. This should provide a few extra mph... ;)

Cheers! :cheer:

Woodie.

Hey Woodie... since I've dropped the prop and put the twin rudders on.. he can't stay on longer than about 10 foot now. Surface drive is great on a speeder, it's not worth a flip on a boat this size. It needs ALL the prop and then some in the water B) When I get my new Cam I'm going to get some fresh Vids....
