I will post more pics of the hardware and a LOT of pics in the review in MGB.com. I used an extended rudder from Insane Boats and a drive from Topsecret Boats. The tabs are Speedmaster and the turn fin is from Herzog Racing. Quite a mix!!!
I used parts I had on hand since I didn't get a real setup sheet with the mono, so I did what I thought would work. The prop is a modified 472 from Bob Austin at Propworks. The motor well, it's a CC Racing! ;D And it rocks! Currently using a 2" band Midwest pipe with Cooper stinger muffler.
The verdict you ask???
This is an awesome boat! I ran the bazookas out of it all morning and part of the afternoon at the lake. Was going to test different props and tab/drive adjustments, but to be VERY HONEST it is ready to race as it came out of the build! Didn't touch anything, just kept giving it all I could and it came back to shore every time. I might bring the starboard (right) side tab down just a hair as the boat leaned to the right a little, but really not a problem, I just want to see what that will do. I had a small issue with the stuffing tube which seems to be due to too long a gap at the engine, or the cable collar, not sure... the collar creeped down to the stuffing tube and we all know how well these are balanced. Needless to say it flared the tube enough for me to want to replace it. I will pull the box and inspect. Probably replace it an make it longer. I usually secure the collar right up against the collet to reduce flop, but it was down at the tube rubbing against it. Maybe I hadn't tightened it properly who knows. I will fix this and get back out soon as I can, but I am telling you folks, this one is a winner!
