Homie Muffler Project

ridgerunner created the topic: Homie Muffler Project

Here's a project I've been working on for my crackerbox and just finished.I used 1 1/2" ID aluminum tube,3/4"copper pipe,3/4"x1 1/2" reducer fitting,650 deg silicone sealant and some screws.Put a water outlet on the end to drain out the transom and made it so I can take it apart if I need to.I was going to make the header myself but ended up buying one already made.I used blue heater hose with a silicone inner lining to connect the header to the pipe and to connect to the exhaust outlet.Hope it holds up.Haven't tried it out yet,but hope to soon.Would also like to thank Marc for his advise on this project.

George you did an awesome job with that. The silicone hose should hold up fine withthe water injection just before it. And the noise level should be way down. Keep us posted!

Still haven't tried it out yet,but am going to put on new colored water and fuel lines. When I run the new cooling lines, should I keep it as it is with all the water from the jacket going to the header or put a Y connection after the water jacket outlet and run some out to the side of the boat?I got colored lines from Daves Motors www.davesmotors.com/store/hpibaja5bparts.html Lots of goodies on that site to give a little bling.

If it's not too much trouble I would try with and without a "T" to see if there is a performance gain. It will certainly be more quiet with all the water going in the header.

Thanks Marc,I'll try it both ways and see which is best.I have to wait till I get my van back from the shop so I can take my inflatable retrievel boat.I don't care for the fishing rod and ball method of retrievel. It took me almost 2 hours to get my boat hooked when I tryed that method.
