Hey Marc,
You wrote an short article about the wood whiplash about 5 months ago and I can't find the review (or is it coming soon) anywhere please enlighten me, as I have ordered one and I would like to use your review (with B. Blazer's instructions) to help build it.
Thanks, any help would be appreciated
Graeme.

Unfortunately I haven't put up the review yet. We had some water backup problems in our house a few weeks ago and this along with the worst summer ever has really set me back with the reviews. I hope to get them all online after the Northern Nats in London which means sometime in early Sept. The reviews that will be posted are Wood Whiplash, Z-box and Rampage Mono. Following that we should have the Twin Pro Cat and RCMK Rear Exhaust engines. I apologize for the delays. The boats are all built and are in the testing phaze. As for the Whiplash, it's a great kit to build and with the new instructions that Brian should have with the new kits, it will be much easier to build. What I can tell you right now is spend the time required to get the turn fin sharpened correctly...that is the main issue I had with mine. Still fine tuning, but boat is running pretty good now.

sharpening the turnfin definetely was not fun for me since i dont have a belt sander. Not fun trying to thin it down blending the leading edge with a angle grinder and files

Hello guy's I am new here and love the site!!

I have been mainly running cats and mono's and I am now getting into a Gas Whiplash GV. My question is what side of the turn fin are you supposed to sharpen the inside edge or the outter edge? Or do you take both sides and sharpen them togeather like a knife?

Thanks in advance!

Outside edge ONLY. Feathered back about 3/4" - 1". The fin is stainless steel and thick, so it's not an easy task. It is absolutely necessary you get it right though, if you don't you will know first time you run the boat, trust me!

Thanks for the reply Marc!

Yes I agree this supplied Whiplash turn fin means buisness!!

It has some weight to it as well being stainless and very thick. At least the weight is going to the right sponson so it will aid in turning.

3/4 to and inch of feathering got it! Sounds like I will be falling in love with my disc sander for a while and a few sanding discs trashed as well. The one thing I do like about stainless is you can buff it and put one hell of a shine on it when its done.
