41" Falcon (01 Wicked Pickle)

Mr.Freeze replied the topic: Re:41" Falcon (01 Wicked Pickle)

I have no need to worry about water getting in, as there is none to contend with, it's a solid monunt with a copper gasket. My stinger bracket has rubber gromets alowing the pipe and engine to move as one.:dance2: I'm going to keep playing with this hull and push it to the limits and if it won't take it, I 'll get one that can. ;)
I have some more props coming to play with, with any luck I'll be over the 60 mph! :3gears: The engine as of right now is just a mild mod, doesn't have zero drags, and only has the port timing played with. It's just a touch better than stock but I wouldn't consider it a mod engine. Testing testing testing man it's hard work.:beach:

I think I might be asking to much of this hull but I'm going to give it my best shot. I pulled the engine to have it massaged if you will, and while it's out I'm total revamping the hull. It was brought to my attention that most of the "fast" cats have a taper to the sponsons while the Falcons are dead flat. So I'm reworking them to sharpen things up and hopefully it will help with the high speed tracking. I have a question for you fast cat builders, I have the boat set up currently with the fuel tank located at the cg so it won't affect things as it empties, but what I'm wondering is balancing side to side, is it better to have the tank on the inside or outside. I'm think having it to the inside (right side of hull) would be better so it doesn't dip into the corners. I know an IV bag will be recommended but I really don't care for them and prefer to stay with a hard tank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:drinks:

here's what I'm doing so far to the bottom. First I roughed it up with some 120 grit to really give it some bite. Then I used tape to create a dam where I wanted the the icing to be thicker on the inside edge. This is just the first application, I still need to put down on more coat. When I'm done I hope to have a sharp angular profile on the inside edges.

Nice pick ups Ken, are your sponsons looking from the back angular or dead flat when sitting on a flat surface?

Well I talked to my engine guy last night, best dyno reading was 4.5 hp and best rpm was 16500( with no load). It sounds like it was a good thing I pulled it out my cat because he said anther gallon of gas and it would have been toast, crank was bent, piston was scuffed and the ring was almost worn through on one side. Now this engine although it is 2 years old has only run tops 2 1/2 - 3 gallons through it, and has never taken a gulp of water. Needless to say and thanks to the kind heartiness of Heavy Metal Hobbies my engine will be reborn!:beach: Thank you so much Bruce for taking the time to go through that paper weight and turn it into a long lasting performer. To think I was able to hit 55.9 with an engine that wasn't any better than a stocker, now this Pickle will truly be wicked!:diablo:

Again Thank you Bruce :drinks:

The sponsons looking from the back are angular when sitting on a flat surface. I liked this water pick up way as Wally told me it could gain a bit more top end.

Let me clear as to not start any problems. I'm not bashing whh in anyway and this engine has had 2-1/2 to 3 gals of fuel through it. When I wrote "Well I talked to my engine guy last night, man let me tell you don't waste your time getting an m5 upgrade. I may have worded it incorrectly. Mods if you would delete that part of the post so there isn't problems I would appreciate it. I am not trying to disparage any ones work only stating my feelings.
