1/4" REDWOOD STRINGERS

LeRoy created the topic: 1/4" REDWOOD STRINGERS

AT LOWES THERE IS SOME 1/4 IN REDWOOD STRINGERS THAT ARE ALREADY CUT TO ABOUT 4 1/2 IN TALL AND WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD USE THEM FOR STRINGERS IN A BOAT.....

AFTER THE INSIDES OF THE BOAT IS DONE I PLAN ON COATING FIBERGLASS RESIN INSIDE THE BOAT......

THE MORE I THINK ABOUT IT I PROBABLY SHOULDNT SKIMP ON THE STRINGERS.....

You should try to get your hands on some marine grade 1/4" plywood for stringers/transom etc. If it's a rigger, use the same stuff for the sides of the tub. The rest can be done with aircraft grade ply in 1/16, 1/8, 1/32. I don't think you can get these in marine grade.

I wouldn't use the redwood, it tends to be rather brittle. Like MARC said, i'd look for some good plywood. Doug
