props to suit 56inch apache

seahawkwa created the topic: props to suit 56inch apache

hi all got my new 56 apache all up and running good. sust seening what props others have used to get good performace out of these hulls. motor is a mod zenoah from omin racing. (barrel/ piston). running a stinger drive .
the prop ive got on atm is a 7016-2 (stanless). boat has good top speed and hole shot seems ok. it can out run a cat with twin rmck`s..so far but would like to see if i can get more out of it.

ive got a cupple other props to try out 1715-2, & 6717-3. all props are from propshop.

are there enny other props to try or are these others enny good to use for this hull. motor dose bog down in a turn and then unwinds once in the straits... im gessing if i have more power throw the turns ill be loosing top end speed.

enny or all info on these hulls or running of these will be great ...

thanks...

( got lots of guys now starting to build up these big mono`s so we will be having lots of fun runing over the summer .....
will post up some pics latter . and would like to see enny pics of others . if enny one of you on this forum runn these large apache or similar hulls...

BIG Apache's are generally NOT speed hulls, and because of there great wetted surface are pretty sticky getting on plane.
The 7016/2 is a really good BIG mono ( Any Mono ) prop, the 3 blade version even better.

A 6717/3 .... Naw, IMO not a very good mono prop unless a light and slippery hull design.

Prop I would get is the ABC 3014/2 ... you may need too tongue cut it some if your power is not enough ? but other than that it is a REALLY good big mono prop because of it's larger diameter and shallower pitch ratio. It's pitch is less but not to worry, it is a VERY VERY efficient design.

:) :) haha, yer look i know a lot of you pro race guys dont like the big boats or the apache hulls but i realy dont care . idd prefer to have a bunch of boats on the lake that all look like or as close to real asposible rather then running somthing that dosent even look like a boat but rather a misile :P ... haha yer we might not win enny world speed records . but i can tell you this. the apache is great fun in ruff water . and leaves these cto3 cats etc . behind. and with the motor ive got ive got no problem in speed , just looking to get a little bit more out of some tuning , with prop`s etc.........
and when we get 5 or more of these 56inch 60 inch mono hulls out on the water all running at the same time it will be a site to see....and when you can run a boat down wind or up wind in full chop on a lake and keep it at full noise that is good . and not have to park it because its to windy or choppy.. that to me is real or as close to real boating as it comes..

(i dont want to sound rude . but you racers dont realy aprechiate that this is a hobby for all to enjo . and some of us like , to just have fun and have boats that we can all enjo. with out bracking the sound barrior every runn . but still get the most out of the boat we have.)

ive also been told a nother great prop for this hull is the abc 2714-3 blade chopper prop. so ive got one comming to give it a go...

 haha:) :) B) remember fun fun fun.....it makes life a hole lot more enjoable.........

A good mate of mine has a 56" Apache, running a single QDHT and hot pipe. Seems to like a Propshop 7515/3, ABC 2814/3 and 4 blade Chopper work good too. Runs pretty quick, gives the Oval Cats a run for their money.

well just got my 2714-3 abc prop . gee these castings on this props are ruff as gutts. its all shapend and ballanced but my god there ruff lookin props. but ive been told there the best working prop to use and work great even if thay look like rubbish with holes etc in them ..haha well the only way to know will be to try it out..

so you guys say thet a 3 blade 7016-3 might be even better then my 7016-2 , im gessing more blades more push....

also a tungue cut what is that and how do i do it ...if i was to do it .
motors got plenty of power and toque.... just trying to tune it as much as i can.

I think Scott's post was not against big monos. Sounded like sound advice to me. :)

The tongue is the leading edge of the blade.

B) Well ive run the boat now with a ABC 2714-3 blade . and wow these props work. way better then my 7016 propshop prop. boats got more then anough porer out of the corners and lots of top end...

i gess now i should try some of the other abc props . like you guys sugested. but i gess ill have to see what works and what dosent . gess i could try the 3014-3/4 blader

we also are goin to try the 2814-3 next and see what happens. tryin to work out there mesurments . but im gess ing 2714 is 2.7inchwith,,, by 1.4pich
so would going to the 3014-3 be slower or faster or less power out of hole shot or bottom end or more....
