so what is everybodies favorite cowl lock?

also i have seen many deck gas filling ports, does anyone have any good information on these?

The only cowl locks I have used are the ones from HOR Racing:

I think these are a common design and probably available numerous
places. I like the way the threaded lock nut makes the tension
adjustable. Most of the parts are aluminum except for the steel
roll pin in the twist latch mechanism - which should insure they
last a long time. Good quality at a fair price.

do the spring looded one have a good run without popping off?

No problems here with the one's from HOR. I think Johnny is selling two
sizes and the link posted earlier is for the large ones (version 1 - 40mm).

That is where the tension adjustment comes in. The builder adjusts them
for how tight they need to be.
