The magnetic propeller balancer shown in the photos was built in 1978. Three leveling screws & the round leveling device make it possible to easily level the balancer. Two .875" diameter X 1.000" magnets are used at each end. One end of the balancer is adjustable. It can be moved & locked into any position when using different length shafts. All of the full hardened shafts used have precision ground points, concentric with the shaft's center line, which ensures that the shafts themselves are not out of balance. Once a prop is balanced, very light polishing with #800 grit wet or dry paper will knock the balance off.

NOTE: Beryllium Copper & Aluminum Bronze are not magnetic. Maybe this is the reason that in an enviroment where there can be no sparks generated, such as a solvent factory, all the tools to open or work on 55 gallon drums are made of Beryllium copper. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
