I am new to this site but I have biult a few boats in my past. I just recently traded an r/c car for a Prather 46 inch mono that is basically brand new. It came with a Prather running hardware kit but it was only 3/16ths hardware, too small for a 46inch boat. Anyways I just bought a Warehouse hobbies Enforcer XP-2 outdrive kit and it came with the flex cable and the tube that the flex cable rides in (it also has a teflon liner). I am use to using a stuffing tube that you can remove the flex shaft tube from incase it should become damaged but this setup does not have a stuffing tube and I am a bit confused how the flex shaft is ran to the prop shaft. Normally the flex shaft tube slides into the brass ferrule at the end of the prop shaft but on this setup the bras ferrule rotates with the propshaft so how do I run the flexshaft once it is out of the boat to the propshaft? I know how it mounts into the propshaft but is it just out in the open with no cover over it or am I missing something here? I can take some photos if it would help explain.

The flex runs inside the brass tube (in this case tube has a teflon liner) up to about 1-1.5" from the drive. At that point the tube stops (basically it just crosses the transom and stops), so there is a gap between the drive and the tube for the ferule to couple the flex to the propshaft. The engine end of the cable should be square, and the engine should have a square drive. If the cable needs trimming you do it at the round end (end that goes in ferule)... unless its a square ferule, in which case the cable is simply reversed.

Thanks Marc,
I know my question was abit confusing. It would be alot easier to set it up as a surface drive but Ive been told that the Prather commander hulls do not do well with a surface drive. So how do I keep the water from running up the tube and into the boat? Grease maybe?

Don't worry about that. Even with a surface drive the end of the tube is under water when the boat's at rest. Both will take in water when stopped. Both will not take in water when moving forward. Keeping the shaft well greased reduces the leakage considerably. Only way to prevent it completely would be some sort of seal between tube and shaft at engine end. I've never bothered with this.
