1980's 42" Aeromarine jesse james cat Build

Well I finally started my build. I found a (in rough condition) 1980's 42" Aeromarine Jesse James cat. I was planning on using a new OPS .90 I had lying around, but decided to go with a 32 cc homelite string trimmer. I'm starting to get rig of all my nitro stuff and switching over to gas nitro is just to much of a pain in the @#%$^&%#@. I tore down the engine and rebuilt the carb, I honed down the fins so I can start on the cooling. Brazed a header together, and started on a exhaust. Not sure if I want to stick with the original Rudder and strut from Aeromarine, I have a new duel rudder just not sure if I want to use that on my Zippkit Easy V???? Here are a few pix of it so far, I have taken the hull down and it's ready for primer, but I wanted to get all the hardware done first.
Please let me know what I can do better of if there is something I need or forgot???
I'm a newbie to this, have only been in to it for just over a year. I'm a disabled vet and was trying to find a hobby that would keep me outdoors. Fell in love with it and cant seem to stop.lol Oh yea if anyone wants it the OPS.90 for sale or trade for an equal value gas engine.
:P

Good to see a grass roots build! Do you plan on running this motor/hardware combo on your Zipp or the Cat? I would run a single rudder on the Zipp with a turn fin and trim tabs.

Not sure. I was actuality thinking of using the duel on my zip and the single on the cat, but if it better the other way let me know. I'm open for suggestions.

Looks to me like you are off to a fine start on your gas boat
adventure. Kudos on whipping that Homey into shape.

Most of all - thank you for serving your country.

I would use a single rudder on the Easy Vee. That hull turns very good with a single and a dual setup would be overkill. If you are going to use it as a sport boat put a turn on both sides it will realy carve a turn! Have you read Marc's review on that boat in the magazine section? If you set it up the way he tested his it will perform very good the first time you run it. BTY Easy Vee hulls run real good with a stock Zenoah,90* header and a zero band pipe. IMO

I need some help with the cooling jacket. Here is a picture with the measurements. How do I go about cooling the piston head?

Personally built up a raced a Jesse James a few years ago ... wicked fast and great play boat, just a tad small for oval race duty.

Some pictures so you just get some setup ideas and references ;)

BTW, cowl used was modified "Team Believer" ... JJ cowl was never used due to all the intake duct, high profile and greater drag it had.

OMG I think I actuality did it. I took a piece of aluminum 1 1/2 tubing and welded a cap on it, cut a 3/4" hole in the top. Then I used some liquid rubber sealant. it seems to work fine under pressure, all I need to do is build a small brace for it just to make sure it stays on. But I think I just made my first water cooled Weed whacker engine..sorry I'm so proud of myself LOL.

I ran my a full tank through the engine this morning. I filed down the flywheel, adjusted the ignition module, and put in new bearings and seals. It ran great!

I'm amazed the cooling head works. It held with no leaks and kept the engine cool enough to touch. now I just need to make a reducer to attach the coupling to the crankshaft.

After tearing down and messing with like 4 engines, I learned a lot. At least now I can rebuild one without wanting to through it out the window.
