48" vee from scratch

cndycdll created the topic: 48" vee from scratch

. I have named my boat the "Miss Meso" (short for mesothilioma thanks to all the glass dust I've inhaled so far) I will be running a accu-tech rico setup 4 trim tabs and one of there motor mounts, along with a zenoah zen7. I will keep pics coming thru-out the build.

HOW THE BUILD BEGAN. I saw a video of a sigma 51 and thought it was awesome. so I began to look at other large boats *(sigma was a bit pricey for my first boat over two feet, or even my first real boat) I thought I could do it my self, so after thinking a design up in my head I went to the garage found what few resources I had, .050 piano wire and two Miller chill 12 pack cases some CA and masking tape. I built a skeleton out of these materials. I layed 1/32"x3" bass over the cardboard and layed a few coats of glass over it and there you go, I pulled out the card board and I had a 47" boat, Not sure how that happened I thought I measured 48" (mabey it's cause I had to empty the boxes before I could use them HA HA) Hope this makes people realize that it isnt rocket science all the time, some times its just beer boxes and piano wire, so go try to build somthing from scratch, Its realy fulfiling

As of 9/28 the hull is finished, It will be a while before I complete the now named fiftey 1 fiftey. I am posibly be going to get a hot saw competition engine (from a chansaw) and me and my buddy chainsaw, go figure, are looking into designing a drag boat around it. If it works out I think it is like 68cc or somthing! I will definately keep updates of that coming if it happens.
