You may want to tighten up the I.D. of stuffing tube so cable has VERY minimal space around it ?

For years now have used the .029" wall K&S brass #9211
It has an I.D of @ .252/.254 with most persay 1/4" cables being @ .242/.245 gives give or take @ .010" internal clearance.
Grease or oils stays put really well because it has no where to go :P
Cables don't whip and near impossible to knot up :woohoo:

Here's a question related to the last issues in this debate:

MHZ in Germany tells me that I should NOT set up the brass tubes from engine to drives in a perfectly straight line.
They say that a little bend on the tubes will work better.

Does anyone have experiences about this?

Cheers! :cheer:

From K&S dealers who sell there product. Under that part# it is a 36" stick and they come in tubes of 5 as well.

Over on Jims, Chris Hoffman AKA: Dasboata has them for sell as well.

Woodie,
Yes well known a slight S bend within stuffing tube helps lessen cable whip.
Having a tighter fit between cable and tube has the same effect on lesser whip but does a far better job in preventing knot up issues because of keeping cable straight and true down it's entire length ;)

Thanks Scott for your advice about the tubes.

As you know, I will run a 14 hp Blata at very high rpms, and from what I get of this thread, the tubes can really be a weak point, so I consider getting a couple of extra tubes as spare parts.

Ran almost a gallon through the boat today, No cable problems, cable looks great. Still hurt some parts. Broke a drive dog. ( Tabs broken) It was pretty choppy today and that could have contributed. A bit later boat hopped and had about a foot of air, followed by loss of speed. It dog eared the prop.
