jorgeirn created the topic: Help , expresscraft thundercat

i need to relocate my new zenoah 260 & bonzi clucth, i need ask how to find the cg of my boat, thanks.

i'm new rc boat, this is my new project, please help me, and i need if i found a place whit pictures on the internet for find the cg????

The hull is used but in awesome shape. It’s a 58” long Thundercat made by Expresscraft. If you include the length of the hardware it puts the boat at over five feet long. It’s one large cat! The hull has no paint to scratch. It’s all gelcoat. It has three sets of flames. The silver ones and two sets of ghost flames. One being behind the silver ones, and the other being on the canopy. The rest of the boat is a dark greenish black with everything covered in metalflake. The hardware on it consists of a Marine Specialties double rudder with center pull and 2” setback.

is my new baby ;D.

Jorge,

First off, Welcome to MGB ;D

To find C.G. on ANY hull, generally we measure boats O.A.L. (Over All length NOT including hardware) ... just make a note of this distance in what ever unit of measure you use ;)

With a lot of CAT style hulls the actual C.G. runs between 30% and 35% ( research this particular hull for what C.G. folks are using )

** Lets say ??? you have a C.G. number of 35%, You take your hulls O.A.L. and multiply it by using 35 with a decimal point ahead of the 35. ( 58" X .35 = 20.3")

::) How do you measure the actual C.G. ? .... thought you would ask that next :D

Get a piece of round wood doweling that is @ 3/4" (20mm) in diameter that is long enough to go across the boats ride surfaces (side to side)

Now you place dowel on a flat table big enough to hold the boat, place boat ON TOP of dowel.
As you move the dowel forward and back under the hull, you will find a place hull will be willing to rock either way :o that is a ballance point (make sure dowel is square under hull)

Now for the actual location of the C.G. you want transfered to your hull ::)
Measured from the transom forward, measure the 20.3 inchs and make a mark on both ride pads that you can view from the sides, this would be the place you would want hull to balance on once rigged out and assembled with all the hardware and engine/pipe in place.

Does this answer your question ?

Thank You for the info. I race in Norway, Europe and are building a 60" MTI Cat from Expresscraft. We are running 35ccm engines (mine is Mathe, Italy) in a European class called O-35.

Do you know what percent is the best startpoint finding the cg for this one??
