STRYKER Y6 MONO

gibbscamuser replied the topic: Re: STRYKER Y6 MONO

Tony,

Since my bypass surgery, I have closed my shop, sold all the equipment, and I no longer make any hardware. Ron Buck is handling the manufacturing process now. I am completely out of the loop.

Steve,
Thanks for that mate, I will get in touch with Ron, It is a well designed stinger drive unit, works really well on the Y6 and get a lot of good comments about it to.

What is the best prop for the Stryker Y6, that is fast and stable?

I like the Octura X472 balanced and sharpened only. If you polish, the water will stick to the blades and slow the prop down. For my salt water props I will polish the front of the prop and sand blast the back of it.

The x472 modified is a very good heat racing prop on the Y6 as well as on several other monos. A great choice. Most motors will pull it easily and it will give you good top speed and excellent acceleration. In my opinion a better prop however is a modified 6717/3 425 from Brent Daily at Porpworks West. A bit harder to pull though so you need a good motor for sure. It is faster all around. I ran one on my Y6 at the gas nats this year and took home several pieces of wood! :) I don't know what mods Brent does to them exactly though, so don't go by numbers only. Get it from him and tell him what boat it's for and you will love it!

I have also had very good luck with a Voodoo El Diablo prop on a gen3 Insane mono, so I am pretty sure it would run great on a Y6 also. Another great prop!

Marc, The props you mentioned are all good props, but the reason I run Octura props is cost. I can't afford to pay $75.00 for a prop Octura's cost about $20.00 and are easy to balance and sharpen. I am also beginning to fool with the Prather 275 and 280 props.

That is a very valid point Steve and you are correct that the X472 is a great prop for that boat. Plus the mods are pretty easy to do to it. I agree 100%.

Guys,
Have any of you tried an ABC Chopper on the Y6 ??? Think it is the 2714 runs great on my Gen II Insane, Also am in the process of setting up another Y6 with a new Deck and also new Cowling, watch this space. :woohoo:

Tony,

I haven't tried the ABC prop you mention. I no longer have my Y6 but I do have a Gen3 mono still, might have to try it this spring.
