Ed is correct. I mentioned this in my original review of the UTG gaskets on MGB.com. By using only the gasket you will drop the cylinder, raise compression, increase intake timing duration and DECREASE exhaust timing. In my opinion, one of the most important gains with these motors comes from INCREASING exhaust timing, so this does the opposite. After installing the gasket, the minimum one should do is raise the exhaust roof at least the same amount you just dropped the cylinder, so approx 15-20 thou. As for the intake timing, it should be pretty close by simply using the .005" gasket. It is always best to measure timing with a degree wheel but to get a rough idea of the material to be removed you can use this chart:

Measure with a degree wheel first to know where you start from! Recheck after cutting...leave a little room for error...once you take it off you can't put it back!
I have tried a few types of UTG (Ultra Thin Gaskets) and I would strongly recommend the ones Carlo at CC Racing Engines sells. They are made of dead soft copper and seal better in my opinion.
