Hi,
Most exhaust pipes usually run the stinger at approximately one and seven eigths of an inch to two inches (47mm to 51mm). As for putting the stinger inside the rear cone this will not achieve anything, as the pipe needs the stinger for scavanging and boosting to help produce power. It will NOT lower the decibels of the exhaust noise. You will need to run an add on muffler as I do not think the kit is supplied with an internal muffler.
Hope this helps

Not to argue, but I have several tuned pipes with internal stingers and they are indeed more quiet than the same pipes with external only...and they do not have internal mufflers...simply the stinger extending inside the pipe down to the midsection. Redline Performance Motors make a really nice Hotpipe with internal stinger. I would recommend getting in touch with Mike at Redline and asking if he'd be willing to share some measurements with you. Can't see why not. They have a banner on the homepage here.
