outside the box made like a box

Rat Bones created the topic: outside the box made like a box

Hey guys
just a bit of an experiment as i brought a box and pan folder for another job so thought i would give this a go
it will probably either go like hell or sink like a stone haha
base is 1.2mm high tensile and top is 0.9mm aluminium inside corners are glued and outside corners will be tigged, hard foam sandwhich, good for a laugh anyway
cheers Mark

Built like an aluminum fishing boat :smack: .... Frankly if you have all the bits and pieces fitting square and true, TIG welding is just going to make it move around.
Personally would think if you can keep industrial strength adhesive all around you have a better chance of a hull that could work very well indeed if all is aligned correctly.

Pretty dang cool either way ... Nice job !!

Thanks Scott
i know what you mean about the tig and almost 80% will be glued just the outside of sponsons will be tigged for polish finish and will still have a bit of flex which is what im interested in,just like the way a kart works
dunno if this will be advantage or not but is worth a crack, plus the adhesive dampens down to stop harmonics from vibrations, maybe haha

I have no idea what to expect as far as performance, could be great, could be terrible...but in any case, the talent you display by putting all this together is very impressive! Cool stuff! Can't wait to see the progress!

It looks Mean, if it doesn't float, you could always use it as a plug & make a mold from it, then paint it with a ckeckerplate design.

One thing thta is for sure........it will handle blow offs without any stress cracks!!!
Actually I think this is a great idea and the hull will be very strong. This method of hull material has proven itself for many years in full scale boats so why not apply to R/C?

It looks great! Gonna be problem watching it running on the water when its a sunny day though with all the reflection!lol
Big hooks and use it as a RC marlin lure!;)
Break it up with some Satin Black and call it the 'DRONE HYDRO' That would look nasty!
Definately cant wait to see it run!

Awwwww! Your little engine is sooooo cute!
