OMEN tuning help

omega created the topic: OMEN tuning help

Hi Guys,

I am running a Omen Zeno since a few weeks and cant get it to peak. Unfortunately i dont have a RPM meter currently (in repair) but perhaps there are some tips here from Omen users.

The engine runs in a CAT (aeroshark). I have tried a hot pipe and a cooper wet pipe. In both cases i managed a top speed of 72 kmh. I tried varies props (all balanced and sharpended) both 2 and 3 bladers. I have tried strut settings from both high to very low in the water, positive and negative strut... I am just stuck.

I am boating in Singapore with very high humidity and ambient temperatures. I have the carb set a 2 low and one 1 high speed. I am sure i am doing something wrong.

cheers
Andre

If you prop down really backing off on the prop load, and still engine will not wake up and run with some gusto, likely you have either too short a pipe setting or maybe a slightly sheared flywheel key ?

Just tossing out possible ideas

I increased the 2inch band pipe to 12.5 inch and took off the cover to let the engine breath better. managed 17240 rpm under load and 75 kmh. I think the hull is the limitation here and not the engine. I managed to blow the boat 2 meters into the sky 2 times so I need to wait for less windy weather and play bit more with the strut setting on this cat. But i think the hull is what it is.... not capable of much more.

I ran 85 kmh with a semi mod engine (Slam 260) on a much bigger Cat. Will swap engine into that hull and see what the omen can do for it.

? what prop size you tryed.

i had a china cat with the sikk 25.4 , and that hull had bad wet aria yes to stick like fly paper and wouldent unload ...

i run a omin in a 56 inch apache and it flogs along. im also using it in a thunder cat 50 inch . goes hard no probs.

pipe lenth (steel pipe) 12.5/8 or 12/.5 inch runs sweet all day .fuel mix 15.1 about 60mls to 1000mls fuel.
carb settings 2l 1h, and just tweeked....
are you running a new or good plug?.

props on mono that work are abc props .

props that work on my cat hull are propshop 7016-2, 7015-2 , 6717-3 best speed on cat was with the 1016. but never had it ruunng gps. but speeds were good.

the omin motor is a fist class motor. we can even get them pushing large 56 inch hulls along fine.....
