Calling motor gurus!

12gofast created the topic: Calling motor gurus!

Looking for some motor expertise! I have acquired a J&G 4 bearing bottom end and I am looking to build a X class motor on the cheap. I have done four 260 zens following the tutorials by Scott S.(Thanks Scott!!) with better than expected results, and figured it would be fun to to an X class motor.
The rcmk top end has interested me however I am not sure if there is any advantage over a zen.
What do you guys think? Zen, rcmk, j&g etc?

Thanks!

Your welcome ..

Between these 2.... Zenoah & RCMK, thats tough, but if build quality and pursuit of raising the bar counts?, my vote soon may very well favor the RCMK.

Between Quick Draw and the J&G, QD hands down :woohoo: ... The J&G's just don't seem to perform as well, if they did you would hear more chatter about them.

Bang for the buck and potential for a lot more .... RCMK has the stars aligning fast IMO.

Decided to go with the RCMK top end -based on nothing more than aesthetics alone.
Step 1 will be to open up and blend transfer ports.

That is one of our Zenoah top end four bearing cases. Looks like someone worked the cases by blending the transfers on the case.

Todd,

Nice to see you on here...welcome to Modelgasboats.com!

Brian keep us posted on your build...curious to know what your results are. Scott and I will both be doing reviews on some RCMK engines in the near future...we have an R254 and S254 currently. I'm anxious to see how these engines perform. I have never had the pleasure of running any QD engines myself, but J&G did send in a HemiV2 kit for review a little while back and I liked it. In my opinion it performed similar to a hot modded Zenoah but was more of an RPM engine from my testings. The latest QD HT seem to be a hot ticket for X-class.

Hi,

I am really new here at Modelgasboat.com. I owned a RCMK R254, so far the engine proven to be faster than stock Zenoah out of the box. I am really impress and just wanted to learn how to beef up the engine more....heheheheh
