7/8 or 1 Inch Header ?

Oliver Douglas created the topic: 7/8 or 1 Inch Header ?

Is there any performace to be gained by going to a 1 inch header and pipe in a mono ?
I am going to try and run my gas SD3 this season:lol:
Thanks for any input.

Theoretically the 7/8" diameter has plenty of surface area to flow the gases exiting the exhaust port. But I think it is more involved than that, as can be seen with the 2-stage pipes... in my opinion on a single stage pipe, the 1-inch header is better than the 7/8" because it is a compromise between a 2-stage pipe and a single stage with smaller header...if that makes any sense. I would like to see a combination of both now that would be interesting!

All your going to need is just a little patience and a combination of both will appear very shortly.

If you change the header you have to change the entire pipe to match. Or were you planning on fitting them? Let me put it this way, if you are running a typical aluminum pipe on 7/8" header and decide to change it for a Powermaster alum pipe on 1" header...yes you will definitely see a difference.
