Routine Engine/Tear Down & Maintenance

mitchesx created the topic: Routine Engine/Tear Down & Maintenance

I switched to gas last summer after three seasons running nitro. I'm a sport boater, I have not raced (just with the guys at the pond), and havent flipped or dunked any of my motors, yet. I usually pull apart my nitro motors at the beginning of the season, once during the season, if I have problems or think I have an issue coming, and sometimes at the end of a season. One reason I switched to gas is the ease of use. I run on average about once a week, so they aren't being used up. I have inspected my fuel line, o-rings, and have looked at the piston (through the exhaust port) in all of my motors, and they look clean. I have also checked each for spark. How often should I pull a Zen apart? Do I need to do anything else special maintenance wise? I appreciate any and all help.

Steve,

Carlo of CC Racing Engines did a nice little article for us on this subject. You can see it here. Should help. :)
