Lightened flywheel for Zenoah

tootalltechie replied the topic: Lightened flywheel for Zenoah

I have done drawings to check it out, I also have ordered a stock rotor and coil to do a test fit. I was originally thinking of making a bracket that would bolt to the Zenoah case using standoffs and longer case bolts. Replacing the front part of the Zenoah case that the engine mounts bolt to.

I'm not boating right now for a few weeks - but I have a QD HT with 95 gram TK flywheel and TK crank I will be running then.

Gordon - why not just run the TK you have instead of fitting all this to a Zen ?? You mobile yet?

If your going to make a bracket why not make one like you drew and use it as a spacer plate for an ez starter.

I think it may work if you leave a big enough hole in front to set the gap on pickup coil, may be tough to tighten pickup up (room behind to get wrench or key in)

When your mobile come over and we'll see if we can cut something out (brother has new lazer) if we make a pattern he can cut it out - I may even have a front mount or two we could use (the TSB) ones are a similar plate.

Crank the AC and recover -- at least the smoke from the forest fires not so bad today, was bad yesterday with all the smoke and ash in air.

I am working on a bracket, because the TK rotor (flywheel) is smaller diameter =less weight. Since the flywheel is a smaller diameter the Zenoah primary coil can not be used, and the TK coil has different mounting holes. Hence need for a custom bracket. The first idea was complex as pictures show, I'm currently working on a KISS design.

The TK flywheel uses the same key way but the hole has a different shape, hole on the back side is the same but the hole on the front is slightly bigger. It's not perfect but it should work with very little problem. I'm planning to use a TK crank so I wont have issues with the fly wheel.

Thinking of replacing the 2 bearing Zenoah bottom end with the new GZR T6, 4 bearing bottom end. No brackets to make, no mods to be done, 2 added bearings.
