Header for Weed Eater

Has anyone ever made their own header and flange before? The exhaust port on my weed eater is unlike homelites and zenoahs. I was thinking of using a floor flange by trimming it down and drilling new holes, then attaching the appropriate pipe threaded. Any thoughts?

I would not work with that galvanized iron. I would get a piece of aluminum plate from a metal shop's off-cuts and fabricate from there. It would be lighter, easier to work, and wouldn't hold so much heat at the "already hottest point of the cyld."

I've seen one on another forum where the exhaust manifold was made out of a 3/4" aluminum conduit T and use 3/4" copper plumbing fittings braized together to make the header.Just use what you need from that center section of the T.You could add a nipple to the copper fitting to make it a water cooled header if needed. www.amazon.com/Tramontina-T-3-...duit+T+3%2F4%22

Found the pics of how to make the manifold. As I've said the header is made of copper fittings and can be made in any configuration you want by using various fittings.

look at these (it's for a HomeLite though - they may have something for yours) or maybe making something like it

Just make sure you get 3/4" aluminum T.You could make a water cooled piece for behind the manifold you make out of the T fitting by using 3/8" flat aluminum and drill holes straight through to the other side and put 10-32 water fittings and connect the two on the right side with a small piece of water line and the other side gets a line from your engines cooling jacket if water cooled and the other fitting goes to the side of the boat to get rid of the water. If you engine isn't water cooled it will keep the manifold a little cooler and not transfer the heat.
