Shoot, I put that kit pic up first to make sure I could post a pic, then wrote a 7 step process with about 12 other pics, and it did not post the rest. I don't have time to try it again. Sorry guys.

Can a mod explain how to get pics and text on here. May be the pics were too much, and it timed out. I don't know.

After thought. I got it to work in separate replies.

There are a couple of ways to fix a internal thread. But many times we don't have a lot of structural material around the hole, and a Heli-Coil uses a smaller drill bit than a solid insert method, to leave as much material around the hole as possible. I picked up this kit on line. It comes with 5mm X .8mm coils (made of stainless steel, so you don't have to worry about corrosion) of different lengths, a STI tap (all STI taps are heli-coli taps), the proper drill for the STI tap, a installation tool, and a coil tab punch.

1) Use the drill bit to drill out the old threads, and make the hole the proper diameter for the coil. A drill press or a drill bushing can help keep the drill bit straight, but I did this one by hand, looking at the drill bit for perpendicularity to the surface from 2 angles 90 degrees apart.

2) next, I tap by hand (same method as drilling) with a bit of cutting oil on the end of the tap.

3) now I use a chamfer tool to put a bit of a chamfer at the edge of the hole, to help guide the heli-coil.

4) now I am ready to load the installation tool with my selected length coil, place it over the hole, and screw in the coil with a small wrench.
