Need help with conversion from Homelite to Zenoah

ihadmail created the topic: Need help with conversion from Homelite to Zenoah

I'm new to the RC boat world and could greatly use some help.

I just bought an older Bonzi Sports 50" that has a homelite 25cc in it. Will a standard Zenoah engine mount bolt up in my boat without any additional modificatons or will I have to drill/machine anything special for it? I would really like to convert over to a Zenoah for ease of finding parts and for an increased fun factor.

Any help will be appreciated, and I've been trying to search the internet for answers with no luck.

Post us some pictures of the current boat (inside, outside, rear, etc.) and then way easlier for us to answer your questions.

Cheers and Welcome to MGB

mine was a custom made homie in a mono

lots of work for my swap but an rtr or used maybe different and some what easier.

check my post history on jrcbd or here. you may find some help.
first Zens are alot lighter so the COG ( center of Gravity )or motor placement is different. drive system will be also.

alot depends on you boat set up and how much you know or how good your are will some techniques. like using fiber glass, or using a dremel tool for example.
there are a ton of people that will help and a ton of info to look through.

good luck with your build. post some pics others may see things we dont always see.

Im actually in the process of making this same conversion with a 50" Muck Mono. All I really needed to do was adjust the stuffing tube down maybe 5 degrees and redrill mount holes in the stringers. However, the boat needed new stringers due to multiple issues but none were specifically related to the motor swap.

If you are going to replace your Homie with a Zenoah, you can get engine mounts from Gizmomotors. I have seen his and I have seen engine mounts from some of the other guys, and so far his are the best I've seen.

Best material and best workmanship. I would run them, but I make my own because I like my engine to sit much lower in the boat. I make a engine mount that won't let me slide a quarter under the engine.

Just FTR I've been running CC engine mounts for 8 years now without EVER having a breakage or fit issues, so let's just say that not all engine mounts are created equally. I have seen many that vary in specs from one set to another and that really sucks when you go to swap engines in a hurry at a race!
