Hi all, Has anyone bought or engineered an onboard electric starter for their scale gas powered boat? I am trying to plan a build and the starter is one requirement.
The second will be an exhaust system to muffle (and deepen) the sound of the engine.
The third may be a tough one as I'm not a machinist. That is a gearbox which could be a plain in/out for forward and reverse. The engine will be clutched.
Hope this all falls under this thread.
If this seems ambitious it's the planning stage. I am working on planking a 56inch tug and this is a candidate for a gas engine. If working out the details is going to be a long project in and of itself, then a 48inch lobster boat (next powered boat to be built) would be the recipient of the gas setup.
sounds like a great build. as for the starter Arrow shark makes a great one. here is the link

The exhaust system again should be an easy one, there are a lot of ways to give it a deep diesel sound.
The gear box I love, I would even like something like that on my 70" phantom, I dont race so that would be sweet to be able to go in reverse, I would have no Idea how to do that one.
I'm in for an electric starter too. But it has to be absolutely waterproof. I really also would like som advice about this. (In my case it should fit to a 39 cc Blata). If anyone knows about a secure and waterproof solution: Please tell me!
About the reverse gear: Fancy and sweet, but very difficult to set up I think, and really not nessecary on a fast MGB made for going fast forward. Harbour maneuvering are for slow and delicate scale boats.
