Best pipe for stock G260

seanx450 created the topic: Best pipe for stock G260

Hi all,

I just received my Zen G260. This motor will be run in stock form in a mono that I have featured in the Builds section. My question to everyone is, What has been your experience with pipes for this configuration? Will the 0 band, 1" band, or 2" band pipes work best for racing in a mono. Thanks for the info.
PS: Prop recommendations will greatly be appreciated as well. :)

I think any good pipe will work fine really. I really like pipes like the Powermaster when going with aluminum. For steel I like the no band CC steel. The QD hotpipe is a very good pipe also. Needforspeed has a really good steel 2" band pipe also, and he will do them up with different bands on request usually. Stock engines don't rev as high as modded engines but typically have very good torque so keep that in mind when tuning..it most likely will not tune at same lengths as the guys run them on modded engines.

Thanks Marc for the info. I looked at the Need for Speed website. I Probably will order a header, pipe and engine mount from them.

Hi Sean

My stock Zen + pipe, header and hardware came packaged with my mono hull(Lynx) from Prestwich Model Boats in UK. Here's a link to his Gas Tuned pipes:

www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/gaspipes.htm

My boat has the cheaper £79 pipe with the stainless wrap to centre manifold. If I wanted more power I would upgrade to his competition pipe and ditch the WTC manifold to get a shorter pipe length and replace it with a 100 or 105 degree bend header.

However I have to say I am impressed with the set up as it is. With the right prop and carb settings it runs very well. These two pics show it:

Hi Sean

You did ask about prop recommendations....

My stock zen runs well on several different props.

It came with an Octura 2 blade X470. Good performance.
It runs quicker with the Octura 3 blade X470 and the 2 blade X472.

A three blade 67/17 prop also runs very well though a bit scary at times with the lift it seems to generate!

As Marc pointed out (and as others have advised me within this excellent forum) these stock engines have plenty of torque which gives great scope for prop experimentation.

I will look forward to your update once you have had your first run of your boat.

Cheers

I've been running NFS 1" band pipe for long time and I liked them so much, here's a newest NFS pipe on my old Insane mono.
