Carb Needle Settings

BrandonC created the topic: Carb Needle Settings

Hi guys,

Just want to run a couple of numbers by you.

The settings for my Walbro Carb are:

Low - 1 1/8 (+/- 1/4) turns
High - 1 3/8 (+/- 1/4) turns

Are these settings what most of you would be using for a Zenoah G260PUM2 and walbro carb??

All the best,

Brandon.

Hi Brandon

From memory your current settings seem like the ones that I previously used as per the manual that came with my carb + stock 260PUM Zenoah.

However following advice from more seasoned experts I changed my settings to these:

Low needle 1 & 3/4
High needle 1 & 1/8

(for standard 644 carb)

In effect a richer lower end setting and leaner top end setting.

The results were dramatic. It lead to much easier starting, better acceleration and more reliable mid to slow speed running.

It will be interesting to see what others say.

Cheers
Craig

I had a simular experience and debate, running 257 carb
till I took the needles out
on the 257 the high needle is short and stubby
the low needle had a long taper

Hey Craig...would those settings work on a 27cc CY?

I don't know about the CY but I guess there'd be no harm in experimenting.
