G230 PUM engine mods

Lawnjockey created the topic: G230 PUM engine mods

Is anyone still modding the Zenoah G230 motors? Or am I better off getting a different motor. I am just a sport boater and this will be going in a EB Supercat Hull. Any help would be appreciated.

I would check with some of the engine guys. CC Racing, M&D, etc... I would think they can still grind on a 230 if it's in good condition. :)

That's very true. You can get a Zenoah 260 for around $200-$225 theses days.

The best mod would be to create a hybrid by using a 260 two bolt cylinder and piston. You need to turn off the cooling fins, fit your old water jacket, plug two of the crankcase bolt holes, match the transfer ports to the crankcase, and elongate the cylinder bolt holes. While you're at it you can do Scott Snyder's modifications on the inside of the cylinder and piston. The engine can equal the best of the modified 260s, but won't have as strong a cylinder. It won't cost as much as a new engine, but you will have a lot of time in the modifications.

I would have to agree that the money spent to modify an older g230 will NEVER equal the bang of a STOCK 260 ....

Even the most highly modified 230's have less power than a 231/260 has right out of the box for @ $225 !!

As for modifying the 231/260 for performance gains ... thats a whole other animal !!
